6G-MUSICAL project present at the SETA 2024

The 6G-MUSICAL project is excited to announce that Prof Christos Masouros (UCL) was invited to present a distinguished talk at the 12th  “Sequences and Their Applications” (SETA) 2024 conference, held from 1 to 5 July 2024 at the Colchester campus of the University of Essex, UK.

Over 40 scholars from Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong (SAR of China), India, Italy, Korea, Norway, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and the USA attended this conference. It featured 23 excellent paper presentations, 5 keynote talks (including the above-mentioned by Prof Christos Masouros representing the 6G-MUSICAL project), and 2 featured talks covering the latest advances in sequences for communications, sensing, and cryptography.

The presentation, titled “Sustainable and Multifunctional Wireless Networks,” explored advancements in the future global cellular infrastructure, which is crucial for various emerging applications, including smart city solutions, urban security, infrastructure monitoring, and smart mobility.

As the world moves towards the next generation of wireless networks, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for 6G include Gb/s data rates, centimetre-level localization, microsecond-level latency, and terabits per joule energy efficiency. Additionally, future networks must align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing sustainability, net-zero emissions, resilience, and inclusivity.

The presentation highlighted the need for redesigning multi-access technologies to meet the multifunctionality and net-zero emissions agenda. A focal point of the talk was the emerging field of Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC), which signifies a paradigm shift by integrating sensing and communication functionalities within a single transmission, utilizing a unified spectrum, and sharing a common infrastructure.

SETA is a prestigious international conference promoting interaction among experts in sequences, signals, waveform design, mathematicians, coding theorists, cryptographic researchers, and communication practitioners worldwide.

The 6G-MUSICAL project’s participation in this event underscores our commitment to pioneering research and innovation in sustainable wireless networks. The project specifically focuses on developing integrated RF/radar-based sensing elements that co-work with communication components in edge infrastructure nodes.
