The 6G-MUSICAL project was represented at the IEEE International Conference on Signal, Information and Data Processing (ICSIDP) 2024, held from 22–24 November 2024 in Zhuhai, China, through a keynote speech delivered by consortium member Prof. Christos Masouros (IEEE Fellow) from University College London (UCL).

🎤 Keynote Title: Towards Sustainable Multi-Access and Multi-Functional Wireless Networks

Prof. Masouros’ keynote addressed the evolving role of wireless networks in enabling a wide range of applications—from smart cities and infrastructure monitoring to urban security—while meeting the demands of sustainability, ultra-low latency, high precision, and energy efficiency. With 6G networks expected to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, his talk explored how emerging technologies can contribute to building resilient, inclusive, and carbon-conscious infrastructures.

The presentation focused on two core research areas:

• Symbol-Level Precoding (SLP): A novel technique that leverages interference as a useful resource to significantly reduce power consumption in multi-access networks.
• Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC): An innovative approach that merges sensing and communication into a single function, enabling hardware reuse and reducing the carbon footprint of wireless systems.

These research directions align with the 6G-MUSICAL project’s objectives to advance the design of energy-efficient and multifunctional signal processing techniques for future wireless networks.

ICSIDP 2024 brought together global experts in signal, information, and data processing, providing a valuable forum to exchange insights on next-generation wireless technologies. The presence of 6G-MUSICAL in this high-impact event underscores the project’s contribution to the ongoing evolution of 6G innovation.
