6G-MUSICAL Showcases Innovative Approach to Joint Communication and Sensing at SNS Phase 1 & 2 Workshop
On October 8, 2024, the 6G-MUSICAL project took part in the highly anticipated SNS Phase 1 & 2 Online Workshop on Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), which brought together nine EU-funded projects to explore the future of 6G. This collaborative event featured cutting-edge presentations from other key players like HEXA-X-II, SNS BeGREEN, 6G-SENSES, TIMES 6G, 6G-DISAC, INSTINCT, iSEE-6G, and TERRAMETA.
The workshop highlighted innovations in ISAC systems, THz multi-functional reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), and wireless local area network (WLAN) sensing. Key insights were also provided by ETSI and 3GPP, with discussions on global affiliations and 6G use case contributions.
Prof. Atilio Gameiro, coordinator of 6G-MUSICAL, presented the project’s vision for integrated radio sensing and communications. He emphasised the need for multi-node synchronisation, ultra-accurate positioning, and the integration of communication and sensing technologies. The vision is clear: a future where 6G transforms industries with unprecedented precision and connectivity.
This collaborative effort, co-organized with ETSI and 3GPP, stimulated new ideas and discussions, opening new opportunities for researchers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to contribute to the evolving 6G landscape.
