6G-MUSICAL Project Highlights Innovative Research at the 32nd EUSIPCO 2024!
The 6G-MUSICAL project proudly announces its successful participation in the 32nd European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2024), held from August 26 to 30, 2024, in Lyon, France.
The event, a key gathering for signal processing professionals across Europe and beyond, provided a platform for the 6G-MUSICAL team to present its latest research advancements.
6G-MUSICAL continues to push the boundaries of 6G technology by integrating radio sensing and communication technologies. 6G-MUSICAL aims to equip edge infrastructure nodes with RF/radar-based sensing elements that work in tandem with communication components, thereby developing new architectures and signals that are both spectrally and energy efficient.
Paper Presentation: Optimal Transmitter Design and Pilot Spacing in MIMO Non-Stationary Aging Channels
The research presented at EUSIPCO 2024 focused on the uplink of wireless communication systems involving multiple-antenna users transmitting data frames over time-varying fading channels. The paper, Optimal Transmitter Design and Pilot Spacing in MIMO Non-Stationary Aging Channels, explores the challenges posed by spatial correlations and channel ageing, factors that can degrade transmission rates.
Key contributions of the paper include:
- Beamforming Framework: A proposed framework to account for spatial correlations in the system.
- Analytical Framework: Using random matrix theory tools, the team developed a deterministic expression that approximates the average sum capacity of all users.
- Optimization of Pilot Spacing and Beamforming: The research derived optimal values for pilot spacing and beamforming vectors, maximizing spectral efficiency.
- Simulation results demonstrated the significant impacts of path loss, mobile user velocity, and the Rician factor on sum capacity, validating the proposed methods’ effectiveness and pilot spacing schemes.
The 6G-MUSICAL team is honoured to have shared these insights with the EUSIPCO community and looks forward to continuing its work on 6G innovations.
