6G-MUSICAL Engages in IEEE Joint Workshop on Integrated Sensing and Communication!
On May 17, 2024, the 6G-MUSICAL project was featured during the IEEE ComSoc-AESS-SPS Joint Workshop on Integrated Sensing and Communication, held at University College London (UCL). The workshop was jointly organised by IEEE ComSoc ISAC Emerging Technology Initiative (ETI) and the IEEE Signal Processing Society’s ISAC Technical Working Group (TWG).
Consortium member Prof. Christos Masouros (IEEE Fellow) of UCL delivered an invited talk on:

In this talk, Prof. Masouros presented state-of-the-art research on the development of signalling techniques that jointly serve both sensing and communication purposes—a foundational aspect of the Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) paradigm. As current communication signals are not inherently suitable for sensing and radar signals are not optimized for data transmission, new signalling strategies are essential for converged functionalities.
The session explored the information-theoretic and signal processing challenges of ISAC, while also highlighting its benefits in terms of spectrum use, energy consumption, hardware simplicity, and system cost. These directions are closely aligned with 6G-MUSICAL’s mission to develop multi-functional and energy-aware solutions for future 6G systems.
The workshop brought together leading experts in ISAC, providing an opportunity to explore the practical applications and theoretical limitations of this transformative technology. With six invited talks and a focused panel discussion, the event served as a vibrant platform for fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
