The IEEE Communications Society flagship conference, IEEE International Conference on Communications 2026, took place in Glasgow from 24–28 May 2026 under the theme “Connected World for a Sustainable Future.” The event brought together leading researchers, industry experts, and innovators to discuss the future of communications technologies and the evolution toward 6G networks.

As part of the conference technical program, the 6G-MUSICAL partner University College London, Christos Masouros, Kaitao Meng, Kawon Han contributed to the tutorial:

TUT-05: Integrated Sensing, Communications and Security: From Theory to Proof-of-Concept Demonstration

Held on Sunday, 24 May 2026, the session explored the transformative role of Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) in future B5G and 6G networks. The tutorial addressed advanced topics, including:

• ISAC signal design and interference exploitation
• Security-aware communications and sensing
• Cell-free and cooperative ISAC frameworks
• Distributed ISAC systems and synchronization
• SDR/RIS-assisted proof-of-concept demonstrations
• AI-native and sustainable 6G architectures

The tutorial highlighted how ISAC technologies can support emerging applications such as smart cities, urban security, intelligent mobility, and infrastructure monitoring, while meeting stringent 6G requirements for ultra-high data rates, precise localization, low latency, and energy efficiency.

A key focus of the session was the concept of leveraging interference as a useful resource, enabling more efficient and scalable wireless systems. The tutorial also demonstrated practical implementations and over-the-air validation using SDR/RIS-assisted testbeds, bridging theoretical advances with real-world deployment perspectives.
