6G-MUSICAL at IEEE WCNC 2024!

6G-MUSICAL proudly highlights the participation of Prof. Christos Masouros from University College London in the tutorial “Security, Privacy and Anonymity in Emerging Applications in 6G and Beyond: A Physical Layer Perspective” at the prestigious IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC) 2024, held from 21 to 24 April 2024 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Delivered on Sunday, 21 April 2024, the tutorial explored the growing need for robust security and privacy measures in next-generation applications such as sensing/positioning, edge-cloud computing, and e-Health. With 6G networks expected to transmit highly confidential data while addressing diverse quality-of-service requirements, Prof. Masouros presented novel physical-layer solutions aimed at jointly optimising performance metrics that are often coupled or in competition — including sensing accuracy, energy and cost efficiency, and anonymity.

This focus on multi-KPI optimisation resonates strongly with 6G-MUSICAL’s mission to merge radio sensing and communication technologies in the development of spectrally and energy-efficient 6G system architectures. By equipping edge infrastructure nodes with integrated RF/radar-based sensing elements that work seamlessly with communication components, the project is paving the way for high-rate communications combined with accurate sensing and localisation.

Under the theme “Wireless Communications for Growing Opportunities”, IEEE WCNC 2024 brought together global experts to share and discuss the latest innovations in wireless communications, networks, services, and applications. Dubai, a city recognised for its leadership in sustainability and emerging technologies, provided an inspiring backdrop for forward-looking discussions on the future of connectivity and the opportunities that 6G will unlock.
