6G-MUSICAL at IEEE PIMRC 2025!
The 6G-MUSICAL project was proudly represented by University College London (UCL) at the IEEE PIMRC 2025 conference in Istanbul, one of the worlds top events for wireless communications and mobile networks.
UCL presented a paper and gave a talk on non-orthogonal signal transmission at the D-band (around 153 GHz), showing new experimental results from their lab setup.
The presentation explained:
Why multi-carrier systems like OFDM are still useful at very high frequencies (mmWave and D-band).
How SEFDM, a non-orthogonal waveform, can make better use of bandwidth.
The D-band experiment setup and how it was designed and tested.
Results showing that multipath effects still exist at D-band (10–100 ns delay), meaning multi-carrier systems are still needed for reliable high-speed links.
These findings prove that even at D-band, multi-carrier waveforms remain important for wideband communication.

Next Steps:
UCL and the 6G-MUSICAL team are now preparing over-the-air transmission tests at D-band, including studies on phase noise and further signal improvements.
